About NY Landscape Lighting

Why Westchester County Homeowners Choose NY Landscape Lighting

Most companies quoting pool lighting in Westchester are landscapers or electricians who add lighting as a side service. We are not. Lighting is the whole business, and has been since 2005.

That matters most around a pool, because a pool area is the hardest lighting problem on a residential property. Water reflects. Wet stone reflects. Glare that would be a minor annoyance on a front walkway becomes the thing you notice all night from the patio chairs. Getting it right takes fixture aiming, shielding, and beam control decisions that a generalist rarely makes.

We design the system on site, at night, before anything is installed. You see the actual light on your actual bluestone before you approve a proposal.

We also service what we install. Transformers, connections, and fixture aiming all drift over time, and we stay with the system after the install is done.

What We Light Around Your Pool

A pool lighting plan is more than the pool itself. These are the elements we light on a typical Westchester property.

Pool deck and coping. Low-glare fixtures along the perimeter so the edge of the water reads clearly from every seat.

Steps, level changes, and retaining walls. The most common safety issue around a pool at night. Recessed hardscape lights and wall washes handle this without creating hot spots.

Surrounding trees and planting beds. Uplighting the mature canopy that Westchester properties are known for gives the pool area depth instead of a lit circle in a dark yard.

Water features and spillways. Sheer descents, spas, and waterfalls take dedicated fixtures, and we design them as part of the broader landscape lighting in Westchester County plan for the property.

Pool houses, cabanas, and pergolas. Down-lighting from structures creates usable light for seating and dining.

The path from the house to the pool. Often overlooked and the section people actually walk in bare feet.

Fencing, gates, and boundary plantings. Defines the edge of the pool enclosure after dark.

Common Pool Lighting Types We Do

Pool Lighting for Inground and Above Ground Pools

Inground pools. This is most of our work in Westchester. Inground pool lighting projects usually center on the surrounding hardscape: bluestone decks, stone coping, seat walls, and the beds and specimen trees that frame the pool. We design around the existing masonry rather than cutting into it wherever possible.

Above ground pools. Above ground pool lighting is mostly about the deck, stairs, and the ground plane around the pool wall. Well-placed path and step lighting does more for safety and appearance here than anything mounted on the pool itself.

Floating pool lights. These are a retail product, not an installed system. They are fine for a party. They are not a substitute for a designed, permanent pool lighting system that works every night without setup.
